The BESS asset journey,
end to end.

From procurement RFx through contract execution, civil works, commissioning and operational dispatch. SureWorx is the system of intelligence layered across every phase of the BESS lifecycle. One record, read by the owner, the EPC and the insurer.

The lifecycle at a glance

Four phases.
One evidence chain.

A reference 200 MW / 400 MWh build. Every phase writes to the same living record, so nothing resets at handover, and every downstream question traces back to source.

01

Procurement intelligence

Supplier risk graph, prequal evidence chain, tender provenance, LFP/NMC trade-off scoring.

02

Contract intelligence

Obligations graph, performance baseline encoding, warranty terms, dispute-defensible record.

03

Construction intelligence

ITP enforcement, HSE permits, subby management, AEMO GCC and R1/R2/R3 hold points, NCR drafting.

04

Operations intelligence

Asset health, SOC/SOH, cycling strategy, warranty claims, AEMO settlement provenance.

Phase 01 · Procurement

Specifying the asset.
Choosing the supply chain.

The owner is specifying chemistry (LFP vs NMC), capacity and duration (typically 2–4 hr), C-rate, PCS topology, round-trip efficiency floor and degradation curve. Long-lead items (cells, PCS, step-up transformer, HV switchgear) are competitively tendered while AEMO connection studies run in parallel.

  • Evidence-grounded tenderingEvery prequal, capability statement and supplier-performance record lands in the asset's enterprise graph. Bids evaluated against actual delivery history, not pitch decks.
  • Provenance from the first emailTender intelligence is provenance-aware from day one; every response hashes into the evidence chain the insurer will later read.
  • The signals that matterCell chemistry and cycle life, PCS topology and RTE, long-lead schedules, connection studies, performance guarantee terms.

EPC and PPA contract obligations encoded in SureWorx EPC + PPA · performance-bound
Phase 02 · Contract

From signed paper to
enforceable obligations.

EPC and PPA contracts are negotiated and signed. Performance guarantees (round-trip efficiency, available capacity, degradation, augmentation triggers, liquidated damages) are encoded alongside warranty terms, insurance and the AEMO connection agreement. Long-lead orders are placed against signed terms.

  • A live obligations graphEvery contract is parsed; RTE floors, capacity guarantees, degradation curves and LD triggers become first-class entities that bind to the operating asset.
  • Contract-aware operationsWhen the BESS runs at 91.2% RTE in year three, the AI agent already knows the contractual significance, and the evidence to prove it.
  • Baselines that holdOn the reference build: RTE ≥ 92.5%, capacity ≥ 380 MWh at year 10, LD triggers. Baselined and hashed at signature.

Phase 03 · Construction & commissioning

Evidence-grade delivery, from
pad pour to energisation.

Civil works, container delivery and placement, DC cabling, AC interconnection, earthing and lightning protection, HVAC, BMS and SCADA commissioning. Hold points at every ITP. AEMO Grid Code Compliance testing across R1, R2 and R3, then the Performance Guarantee Test. With subcontractor inductions, isolations and permits-to-work running throughout.

  • Captured at sourceEvery ITP hold point sealed with photos, sensor reads and signoffs. Geo-tagged and hashed into the evidence chain as work happens.
  • Agents on the worksiteThe Quality Agent drafts NCRs and routes them to QA leads; the Safety Agent runs permits, fatigue and isolations in real time.
  • Gates that close on proofAEMO R1/R2/R3 and the PGT close with verifiable evidence, not paper.

Phase 04 · Operations

Dispatch, degradation, augmentation,
all with the receipts.

The asset is energised and AEMO is dispatching. Revenue across wholesale arbitrage, FCAS contingency and regulation services, inertia and SIPS where applicable. O&M monitors SOC, SOH, cell balancing, thermal performance and cycle count; augmentation planning runs against the degradation curve while warranty claims and settlement disputes go live.

  • The operational co-brainEvery dispatch, cell-level event and degradation reading reasons against the encoded obligations and the construction-stage evidence trail.
  • Warranty packs, assembledWhen the claim window opens, the AI agent assembles the evidence package itself. Performance regressions trace back to the construction events that caused them.
  • Disputes, one query awayWhen AEMO disputes a settlement, the dispute pack reconstructs with provenance back to install.

The cumulative outcome

One continuous evidence trail.
Procurement to settlement.

Every operational event across every phase is hashed, chain-linked and reconstructable. Prequal → RFx award → EPC signed → ITPs → GCC R1 → PGT → year-three dispatch → warranty claim. When the regulator, auditor, insurer or tribunal asks the question, the answer is one query away.
